Who
Are We?
Welcome to the official web site of
the New Bern, North Carolina Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association
(EAA).
We are a non-profit volunteer
organization dedicated to the promotion of the sport and hobby of recreational
aviation, aviation safety, education and fellowship.
The Flyin'
Bears holds it's monthly meeting at 7:00 pm on the fourth Monday of the month at Craven County Airport,
inside the Tradewind Aviation
Flight School (old Flight Service Station building adjacent the Tower). Guests are always welcome and encouraged to attend.
We have interesting guest speakers, informative presentations, share information
and resources, enjoy a cookout and just simply have a good time with friends who
love aviation.
The EAA is an international
organization dedicated to the support of aircraft homebuilders, and also
sponsors various programs designed to provide education in, and to promote the
enthusiasm for, general aviation. The benefits of EAA national membership
are numerous, and we encourage you to visit the official web site of the EAA
at your leisure to learn more about this impressive and dynamic organization.
Chapter 1171 membership benefits
are numerous as well. Members can participate in all of our , attend general meetings, take advantage of seminars, and fly
in our Young Eagles program, just to name a
few. Members also receive our monthly newsletter.
The members of the Flyin'
Bears are a diverse group of aviation enthusiasts from the New Bern
area and beyond. Diverse in age, interests, projects, and
occupations. It is not necessary to be a pilot to belong to EAA and
Chapter 1171. Our non-pilot members are committed to promoting
general aviation through participation in the many and varied activities the
Chapter sponsors each year.
Many women are also involved in
Chapter activities. Check our links page to
connect with websites such as the Ninety-Nines and WIAI which highlight women in
aviation.
We also encourage the active
participation of young people in Chapter activities, both through our Young
Eagles program and with our Junior Membership for those under 18 years of
age.
Throughout the
year the Flyin' Bears hosts
fly-ins, fly-outs, picnics and other activities for the young and young at heart
who enjoy the romance of aviation. We present educational programs for
both novice and experienced flyers, and participate in programs such as Flying
Start designed to introduce the non-flying community to the value and joy of
flight.
Visitors and guests are always
welcome at a Flyin' Bears event.
What better way to see first-hand the fun we have, and the wonderful people
involved in our chapter. Flyin'
Bears events are designed for the entire family. If you have
children who are interested in flying, let us introduce them to aviation through
our Young Eagles program. If you fly, would
like to learn to fly, or if you just have a love for
aviation in general, please accept our invitation to attend our next monthly
general meeting.
We look forward to meeting you
soon.
